Originally Andrew started this website because of a passion for the P-166 which started when he often flew wich his father in SAAF P-166S 'Albatross' aircraft. Shortly after the site first went online in 2001, a second person joined Andrew. The new P-166 Crew Member was Roger McDonald. Roger is an aviation historian living in Australia who, besides having a fantastic knowledge of Australian and foreign aviation matters also has the same passion for the 'Pig' as Andrew does.

Although Andrew and Roger are the backbone of the website it would not be possible to gather and present this much information on the P-166 if it were not for the interest, enthousiasm, contribution and sponsering that others have shown toward the P-166 website.

The list of people that have contributed to the P-166 is long and we'd really like to thank you all for your participation and dedication in helping to get and keep this website as up-to-date as possible.

We'd especially like to mention a few people without whom the P-166 website would have not made it this far:
Donald Albin for his very generous sponsoring. Thanks to Donald the website has recently been able to move to a better, faster and more reliable hosting company.
Ing. Paolo Chiarlone, Sales Engineering, Piaggio Aero industries. - Andrew first contacted Paolo in 2000 and told him about his plans to establish and maintain this website. Paolo was very enthusiastic and supplied the website with a goldmine of information including a hardcopy of the Piaggio P166 construction list and several very hard to come by publications focusing on or partially on the P-166.
Col. Salva Gagliano, Italian Air Force. - Col. Gagliano has supplied us with information about the P-166 DL3's serving with 303 Squadron based in Pratica di Mare (Rome).
Willem Viljoen, (Lighting Cameraman). - Willem is the owner of P166s #453, an ex SAAF 'Albatross'. Willem has been extremely helpfull in gathering information on South African registered P166's.
Frank McMeiken - Frank sent us his list of construction numbers. With lists from two different sources we managed to gather a lot of history on several aircraft.
Alessandro Varaldo (Piaggio Aero Ind.), Antonio Bettanini(Piaggio Aero Ind.),Alessandro Gigli Cervi, (Piaggio Aero Ind.), Egidio Ferrighi, Dean Wingrin, Ron Cuskelly, Peter Sagar, , Andy Heape, Bernard Lange, Jon Brunker, Alex Waning, Augusto Laghi and everyone else who has contributed to The P-166 Website

A special thanks goes to Maj Dave Bekker (SAAF) and Maj. Rodney King for organising my (ed: Andrew) flight in Albatross 881 in June 1996, Rodney was the SAAF Museum's Albatross display pilot at the time. They will never *really* know how much that flight actually meant to me.

I'd also like to say thanks to my dad, posthumously, for taking me flying with him when he flew Albatrosses for 27Sq. SAAF. That was the spark that ignited the addiction!, Thanks Pal!. - Andrew
